- Acidic foods- such as wine, soft drinks, fruit juices, and tomato sauce deteriorate the Enamel shield of the Dentin, making their way to the nerve endings present in the tooth.
- Tooth grinding- an act that many people do as a force of habit. Some even do it in their sleep.
- Hard Brushing- Brushing your teeth is good, but getting too enthusiastic about brushing is not. Some people damage the Enamel when they brush too vigorously.
How To Improve and Prevent Teeth Sensitivity?
There are a few things that you should include in your daily routine to strengthen your gums and help your teeth fight against sensitivity.
Here are some tips to help you get started.
1. Brushing Your Teeth the Right Way
You should brush your teeth at least twice a day with a toothpaste that contains fluoride. Fluoride is known to help the development of Enamel.
Also, avoid toothpaste that contains peroxide as it contributes to tooth decay. The toothbrush you are using needs to have soft bristles, so they don’t damage any vulnerable nerve endings.
2. Flossing
Flossing is not considered as essential for your teeth. But it is!
Through flossing, you can get rid of the small food particles that make their way into the cavities and cause discomfort in the gums.
3. Avoid Acidic Food
Acidic foods are a slow poison for your teeth as they slowly get destroy the Enamel cover. Avoid these foods or at least limit the intake.
4. Bonding, Crowns, and Inlays
These are added to teeth that already have tooth decay to help reduce the pain.
5. Root Canal
The last resort you can go for is the Root Canal- a surgical process to cure tooth sensitivity when all else fails.
